PRAESIDIUM
praesidium.legal

A legal operating system that shows its work.

Built by a trial lawyer with twenty-four years in Texas courtrooms. Run in production at his own firm. Documents, docket, discovery, deals, billing, and trial presentation on one appliance — one data layer, with provenance attached to everything.

The record

Three things that happened in live matters. Told plainly, because they don’t need help.

RECORD · 01PLEADINGS

The complaint

In: 647 characters, dictated to a phone while walking the dogs — speech-to-text errors included, the jurisdictional theory tangled.

Out: a five-count federal complaint. Procedural and substantive due process, class-of-one equal protection, a takings count with ripeness answered before anyone raised it, and municipal liability pleaded three separate ways — a count the prompt never mentioned, supplied because the claim fails without it. Correctly captioned, correct division, ready for counsel’s review the same evening. It didn’t transcribe the confusion. It fixed it.

RECORD · 02DISCOVERY

The weekend

A court-ordered collection: 2.9 million items, 692 gigabytes, pulled through Microsoft’s own Purview API — the same mechanism the vendors use, driven properly. Export finished in three and a half hours on a Friday night. The first two analysis phases — population, custodian counts, gap joins by Message-ID against the other side’s own production — were done before Monday. The opposing vendor, working at its own stated rate of fifty to sixty gigabytes a day, had not yet loaded the first custodian.

RECORD · 03DELIVERY

The instruction

In: “Run the report and send it to the clients.”

Out: the bundle assembled, every file hashed into a SHA-256 manifest, a registration-gated link minted and delivered, and every subsequent access logged — who, from where, when. The log is not a courtesy and not an offer — it is the firm’s own record, kept with the matter file. If what was delivered, when, or to whom is ever disputed, the answer was written down before the question existed.

The instrument

Not a subscription. A machine in your building, and a doctrine in the schema.

Provenance is sacred

No migration destroys chain of custody. A production save and a delivery are different events, recorded separately, forever. The audit trail is the product.

One data layer

Documents, deadlines, discovery, deals, billing, trial presentation — seventy-six modules over a single schema. Nothing to integrate. Nothing to reconcile.

Your building, your data

An appliance in your rack. Local GPU inference, local search, local storage. Client files that never transit anyone else’s cloud.

Built from practice

Designed by the attorney who uses it daily — for how firms actually work, not how software vendors imagine they should.

Structure first, model second

Typed structure routes each piece of work to the cheapest process that can do it correctly. The model is spent where judgment lives — not on work a query could do.

No duct tape

Built correct, not fast. Complexity lives under the hood; the screen stays simple. Nothing ships that the schema cannot defend.

If you are producing to a Praesidium firm

Your production will be read.

All of it. Every field in your load file is parsed and kept — dates, Message-IDs, family groups, hashes — not just the Bates number and custodian most review platforms bother to map. Bates continuity verified end to end. Sent items joined by Message-ID against our client’s own mail. Export manifests read line by line, source locations included, and reconciled against the order that authorized them. When the numbers don’t tie, the questions arrive with citations.

None of this requires you to believe anything about the software. Every finding is reproducible from your own artifacts, and the scripts are offered with the meet-and-confer.

Produce accordingly.
